About

Women’s ice hockey is a growing sport in the world but just how much of it do we know? In this publication, we’ll explore how this sport is gaining momentum in the eyes of the media and how it is becoming popular among young athletes and sports fans, men and women alike.

Outside of sports, I’ve become a firm believer in the idea that women deserve the same rights and opportunities that men have. I’ve been inspired to explore this issue within the world of ice hockey because my sister is a female hockey player.

The goal of this publication is not to objectify or compare the physical differences between men and women hockey players. However I do want to highlight the stereotypical and gender-specific opportunities between men and women, or lack thereof.

This platform is not intended for one demographic nor is it geared to isolate one from the other. I want this publication to serve as a vehicle of education for boys, girls, men, women on what it’s like to be a female hockey player and the various difficulties of it. I do however, encourage young women to follow along because the athletes I refer to at times, may serve as role models for aspiring young hockey players.
